This role is part of the Central M&A Team at saas.group.
About saas.group
Established in 2017, saas.group is on a mission to turbocharge promising B2B SaaS ventures, unlocking their full potential. As a Software-as-a-Service portfolio powerhouse, we specialize in acquiring small software companies and scaling them into industry leaders. With a fully remote team of nearly 380+ colleagues spanning 50+ countries, we grow over 25 brands under our umbrella.
Profile Overview
Our Investment Team deploys $50M+ of capital annually into niche, bootstrapped PLG software companies across North America and Western Europe. These are capital-efficient, founder-built businesses that most funds overlook.
We are hiring an Associate Director, Investments to sit in the principal seat. Reporting to our Head of M&A and working alongside an existing Associate Director, you will have significant exposure to our C-suite. As deal captain, you qualify opportunities, issue offers, build investment cases, set pricing, negotiate with founders, run diligence, and close deals.
Your impact in the first 6–12 months:
- Own early-stage qualification: take new opportunities from first call to non-binding offers quickly, kill weak leads early, and convert strong opportunities into IC-ready investment cases.
- Earn the trust of founders, the C-suite, and operating teams.
- Step in as deal captain on live transactions and drive them from LOI to signed SPA.
Your Responsibilities
- Capital Allocation: Underwrite every deal you lead. Form a clear view on value, risk, and returns; write investment memos and defend recommendations before the Investment Committee.
- Qualification & Offers: Qualify opportunities fast, issue non-binding offers, and set price and deal structure through LOI.
- Deal Captaincy: Own the end-to-end transaction process from initial call to closing.
- Commercial Due Diligence (CDD): Size markets, map competition, analyze quality of revenue (retention, concentration, pricing power, durability of growth).
- Financial & Commercial Modelling: Build models from scratch (ARR bridges, cohort/retention analysis, unit economics, scenarios, valuations, and returns).
- Negotiation: Lead negotiations with founders and advisors on price, terms, and deal structures.
- Diligence Leadership: Coordinate workstreams across internal experts (finance, tech, product, marketing, legal, people) and external advisors.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Represent saas.group to sellers, brokers, and advisors, collaborating closely with operators taking over post-close.
- Coaching: Develop junior team members as a hands-on player-coach.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience: 6+ years of post-university experience with a strong track record in transactions, strategy, or M&A.
- Background: Training at a top-tier firm across Private Equity (lower mid-market tech/SaaS), Strategy Consulting (MBB / top strategy boutiques), Big Four Deals/Strategy, Corporate Development / In-house M&A, or Investment Banking (tech boutique / mid-market M&A).
- Investor Mindset: Ability to think like an owner, form clear views quickly, and defend them with numbers.
- Live Deal Experience: Hands-on experience driving transactions through to completion.
- Financial Modelling: Proven ability to build complex valuation and financial models from scratch.
- Commercial Due Diligence: Hands-on experience with market sizing, competitive analysis, and revenue quality assessments.
- AI Fluency: Active use of AI tools (e.g., Claude) to streamline research, analysis, modelling, and diligence workflows.
- Communication & Language: Fluent written and spoken English (additional European languages are a plus).
What We Offer
- Principal Seat & Direct Impact: Lead deals as a principal investor and manage capital deployment.
- High Deal Flow: $50M+ deployed annually across two continents with C-suite and Investment Committee exposure from day one.
- 100% Remote Flexibility: Work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
- Low Bureaucracy & High Trust: Efficient processes focused on sustainable momentum and outcomes.
- Flexible Time Off: Enjoy generous flexible vacation policies to recharge.
