Senior Software Engineer - AI

Profile Overview

Usersnap is building AI-driven capabilities into the core of the product, from automated setup to intelligent surveys, contextual analysis, and reporting that generates itself based on connectors. We're looking for a hands-on Senior AI Engineer who designs and ships AI-powered features end-to-end, working closely with fellow engineers to bring these capabilities to production quality.

This is an individual contributor (IC) role with real technical ownership. You'll be trusted to make architecture decisions within your area, spot problems, and propose solutions proactively. AI capability is becoming core to Usersnap's product and go-to-market, and you'll be one of two engineers ensuring it ships reliably and at production quality.

Immediate Impact (First 3-6 Months)

• Ship at least one AI-powered feature to production, end-to-end, from prototype through launch.
• Establish technical patterns for AI feature development that the rest of the team can reuse.
• Build a strong working rhythm with Engineering and Product teams.
• Become recognized as a reliable owner of ambiguous, technically complex initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship AI-powered features across the product, from prototyping through production quality.
• Work hands-on with LLMs, embeddings, and related AI tooling to solve real product problems.
• Own technical decisions for your features: architecture, model selection, integration approach, and tradeoffs between quality, cost, and latency.
• Build across the full stack as needed, ensuring every feature is tested, monitored, and maintainable.
• Help establish best practices for AI feature development as the AI surface area grows, flagging technical risks early around reliability, cost, and edge cases.
• Partner closely with the Senior Engineering Manager on technical planning and sequencing, with Product on requirements, and with fellow engineers on shared architecture and standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping AI features to production and owning the full lifecycle from problem framing to post-launch iteration.
• Strong fullstack fundamentals, comfortable across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
• Practical LLM experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, or similar techniques in production systems, with sound judgment on when AI is appropriate.
• Evaluation mindset, defining success metrics, designing experiments, running offline/online evaluations, and making data-informed decisions.
• Data competence, including solid SQL, basic schema design, simple pipeline construction, and data analysis skills.
• Production readiness, including Docker fluency, CI/CD awareness, logging and monitoring basics, and disciplined versioning for prompts, models, and datasets.
• LLM platform breadth, including experience integrating multiple LLM providers, vector databases, LangChain (or similar), and fine-tuning when justified.
• Proactive problem framing, identifying challenges and proposing solutions independently.
• Compliance & security awareness, or a strong interest in it as the product moves upmarket (nice to have).
