Senior Mobile Engineer (Food Tracking) - YAZIO

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to join the Food Tracking squad at YAZIO, the team building the core experience of our product. This includes daily food tracking, AI-driven insights, and features used by millions every day.

You will play a key role in shaping the Food Tracking squad, leveraging our Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) stack to deliver high-impact solutions for iOS and Android users. You will join a cross-functional team partnering closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Analysts.

This role is 100% remote and open to candidates based in Germany, Spain, Portugal, or the U.K.

Your Mission

The Food Tracking squad is entering a new phase, focusing on AI-driven features and deep personalization to help users lead healthier lives. Your mission is to shape the future of our squad with your technical expertise:

• Own Features End-to-End: Take ideas from technical design to a polished, deployed feature. Write clean, maintainable code, ensure high quality, and monitor production impact.
• Lead Migration to KMP: Assess, document, and plan the migration of our complex domain from iOS/Android platform code to KMP-first code—while continuing to ship features.
• Integrate AI Features: Partner with the backend team to bring scalable AI-powered features to the app and evaluate best practices for an optimal user experience.
• Partner with Product and Design: Act as a key contributor to the why and what by assessing technical areas, weighing trade-offs, and shaping an ambitious yet achievable roadmap.
• Elevate the Team: Mentor other engineers, lead by example with thoughtful code reviews, and proactively improve team processes.

Your Profile

• Expert in Modern Mobile Development: Significant experience building native mobile apps on Android with Kotlin and Compose, ideally with KMP. Experience on iOS with Swift and SwiftUI is a huge plus, alongside a willingness to expand ownership across both ecosystems.
• End-to-End Ownership: Proven track record of organizing and delivering features end-to-end.
• AI Adopter: Comfortable using AI tools to automate daily workflows and maintain high quality. Experience integrating and shaping AI-driven features in production is a major plus.
• Pragmatic: Ability to build the smallest piece fast to achieve results, prioritize effectively, and maintain high standards for code quality.
• True Product Engineer: Obsessed with user experience and the "why" behind features. Comfortable with product metrics and driven by measurable impact.
• Excellent Communicator: Ability to clearly articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical partners, with strong written documentation skills.

We believe in Kotlin Multiplatform and use it heavily in our modularized monorepo. We share as much code as possible outside of the UI layer, while building fully native UIs using Compose on Android and SwiftUI on iOS.
