The Role
Zyte is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer with strong Business Systems and Automation experience to architect and operate the internal technology ecosystem that powers our global company.
This role goes beyond endpoint management and traditional IT support — it treats internal IT as an engineering discipline, with code-first automation as the default approach. You will design and operate the backbone of Zyte's internal SaaS platform, integrating systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, finance systems, HR platforms, engineering tools, and collaboration software into a coherent, automated architecture. You'll also play a key role in introducing AI-assisted and AI-driven workflows across the company.
Responsibilities
- Business Systems Engineering: Administer and integrate business-critical SaaS systems, such as Salesforce or HubSpot, customer support platforms (Zendesk, Intercom), billing systems (Stripe, Chargebee), and collaboration/engineering tools (Atlassian, GitHub, Notion).
- Engineer Internal Automation Systems: Spend a significant portion of your time writing code and building automation tooling using modern development environments (IDEs, CLIs, SDKs). Build scripts, services, and integrations in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- SaaS Integrations: Design and implement reliable, API-driven integrations between business systems including CRM automation, billing/product usage data syncing, and entitlement provisioning.
- Develop Internal Tools: Build internal CLI tools, automation services for onboarding/access management, data synchronization services, dashboards, and ChatOps tools for Slack.
- Introduce AI into Workflows: Identify opportunities to use modern AI technologies to automate or augment internal operations, such as AI-powered support assistants, LLM-driven knowledge retrieval, automated ticket triage, and AI copilots.
- IT Golden Path: Create automated and developer-friendly workflows for employees, including automated onboarding/offboarding, identity/access provisioning, and self-service automation.
- IT Service Management & Operations: Serve as the ultimate level of IT Support for end-users with a root-cause analysis and person-first philosophy.
- Security & Compliance Engineering: Ensure continuous operational adherence to ISO frameworks, implement endpoint security (JumpCloud), enterprise password management, and Zero Trust access principles.
Requirements
- 8+ years in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Systems Engineering, or Platform Engineering, including 3+ years in a senior role owning internal business systems and automation at a SaaS/tech company.
- Scripting Mastery: Strong scripting and programming ability in Python, Go, Bash, and Node.js.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Solid experience operating GCP & AWS environments (VPCs, IAM roles, EC2/S3).
- API & Integration Engineering: Experience working with external APIs (REST/GraphQL), OAuth authentication flows, webhook-based event systems, and SaaS SDKs.
- Operating Systems: Deep working knowledge of macOS and Linux environments.
- Identity & Security: Experience implementing and managing SSO/SAML/SCIM provisioning, identity lifecycle automation, and Zero Trust access models.
- Compliance & Governance: Experience supporting or passing security and compliance audits (ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR).
- Experience working in remote-first or globally distributed environments is strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills
- AI-Assisted Automation: Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), AI copilots, semantic search, and automated ticket triage.
- Containerization: Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for running internal IT microservices.
- SRE Mindset: Experience applying SLIs/SLOs to internal IT services.
Who You Are
- Autonomous: Prioritize complex backlogs independently and lead from the front.
- People-Centric: Great interpersonal skills and clear communication, solving for the person, not just the machine.
- AI-Driven: Enthusiastic about leveraging AI tools to automate and improve internal IT business processes.
- Security Minded: Understands the "why" behind security frameworks, balancing safety with organizational speed.
- Growth-Oriented: Proactive in owning solutions when seeing a gap in a process.
Benefits
- Total Flexibility: 100% remote work from where you are most productive.
- Innovation Culture: Encouragement to "automate" manual tasks.
- Cutting Edge: Work with a tech stack that mirrors production environments.
