Role Overview

The Renewals team protects and grows 1Password's recurring revenue by helping customers realize ongoing value and make confident decisions about their subscriptions. As Senior Manager, Renewals, you'll lead the global renewals function, owning the operating model, team performance, and renewal outcomes that support retention and expansion.

You'll lead renewal managers across regions, establish the standards and systems that make the renewal motion predictable, and partner with senior leaders across Go To Market (GTM) to resolve risk and capture growth opportunities.

This role reports to the Senior Director, Customer Success.

Note: All GTM roles require in-person onboarding in Toronto, Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Scaling: Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing renewals team across regions and experience levels.
  • Forecast & Outcomes: Own the global renewals forecast and retention outcomes, partnering with Customer Success and Sales on expansion opportunities.
  • Operational Standards: Establish clear standards for coverage, handoffs, risk management, negotiation, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Coaching & Debriefs: Coach managers and team members through deal reviews, call debriefs, calibration, and development plans.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Partner with senior leaders to resolve complex renewal situations and embed learnings into the broader operating model.
  • Playbooks & Systems: Design and improve renewal playbooks, commercial workflows, AI-assisted systems, and enablement programs that increase team capacity and create repeatable outcomes.
  • Performance Insights: Provide clear, commercially disciplined insight into renewal performance, risk, expansion opportunities, and strategic priorities.

What We're Looking For

  • Post-Sale Experience: Proven experience leading renewals, customer success, account management, or a related post-sale function in B2B SaaS, with a track record of owning retention outcomes.
  • People Management: Experience managing global or senior renewals teams, including hiring, developing, and supporting managers or team leads.
  • Enterprise Negotiations: Ability to lead complex renewal negotiations with enterprise customers while building repeatable renewal motions for smaller segments.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong knowledge of renewal frameworks, commercial terms, pricing, procurement, legal processes, forecasting, and retention metrics (GRR, NRR, churn, renewal rate, expansion).
  • CS Tools: Experience using Salesforce, Gainsight, or comparable customer success platforms to manage customer health, risk, forecasts, and team performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Demonstrated capability in building trusted partnerships across CS, Sales, RevOps, Finance, Legal, Support, Solutions Engineering, and Product.
  • Domain Expertise: Background in cybersecurity, identity security, or Identity and Access Management (IAM); experience as a 1Password user or practitioner is a plus.
