The Role

Acorns is seeking a Senior Manager, Sourcing & Procurement to lead our company-wide sourcing and purchasing model across all third-party spend. You will oversee end-to-end category strategy, vendor management, and intake workflow operations, partnering closely with Finance, Enterprise IT, Engineering, InfoSec, Legal, Compliance, and business owners across Marketing, Product, and Operations to drive commercial value, operational reliability, and risk oversight across all lifecycle stages.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Own and enhance Acorns’ existing third-party management program, covering planning, intake, evaluation, contracting, and lifecycle management of all third-party engagements. Evaluate current policy, processes, and procedures, redesign where needed, and establish defined accountability at each stage.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, contract structuring, and renewals across all indirect and strategic spend, securing competitive pricing, terms, and service levels.
  • Develop and run category strategies across technology, marketing, product, operations (including data, KYC/identity, and customer support), professional services, and corporate functions.
  • Own company-wide intake and procurement workflows and supporting automation, bringing Enterprise IT, InfoSec, and Compliance in during planning and evaluation, before vendor selection or commitment.
  • Drive spend segmentation, RFPs, market analysis, vendor consolidation, and multi-year category plans.
  • Mature the risk-tiered sourcing framework to meet SEC, FINRA, and bank-partner expectations, including inventorying, auditing, and benchmarking strategic suppliers against commercial, operational, security, and regulatory standards.
  • Enhance spend analytics, benchmarking, and executive reporting to identify savings and forecast procurement needs.
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop one team member, providing ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and guidance.

What You Will Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, enterprise procurement, or vendor management within high-growth technology or financial services environments.
  • 2+ years of people management experience.
  • Proven track record negotiating complex, multi-year enterprise SaaS software agreements, marketing and agency agreements, professional services contracts, and strategic third-party vendor partnerships.
  • Hands-on experience developing category strategies, running structured RFPs, consolidating vendor bases, and executing multi-year spend plans.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with a collaborative, customer-centric approach.
  • Expertise in spend management and procurement intake tools (including Zip and Brex).
  • Experience executing cross-functional third-party risk management (TPRM) frameworks.
  • Familiarity with technical concepts (architecture, integration, security, SLAs, uptime, incident response) to partner effectively with Engineering and Enterprise IT.
  • Deep financial acumen with demonstrated experience driving measurable cost savings, total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions, and risk mitigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
