Your Role

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining frontend applications and backend services that form the foundation of user experience at Alpaca and empower millions of users who trade billions of dollars worth of assets.

As part of a focused engineering team, you will own the user experience and product development for Internal Tools customers, encompassing both frontend trading dashboards and backend systems powering features such as elite tiers, high-yield cash, paper accounts, and more. Working closely with users and internal stakeholders, you will deliver high-quality end-to-end solutions across our full suite of frontend and backend systems.

What You'll Do

• Play a pivotal role in architecting and developing software solutions across the full stack.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams and dive deep into backend systems and infrastructure powering financial markets.
• Contribute to API design and product features within our ecosystem.
• Own the delivery of high-visibility features and projects from design to deployment.
• Mentor peers and influence the company's technical strategy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience using a modern systems programming language such as Golang, C++, or Rust.
• 3+ years of experience in frontend development with TypeScript and React.
• Proficient with SQL and relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL).
• Proficient in HTML and modern CSS frameworks such as TailwindCSS.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven track record of building user-facing features end-to-end.
• Experience with REST APIs and WebSocket best practices.
• Attention to detail and an appreciation for design aesthetics.

Nice-to-Haves

• Algorithmic trading experience (professional or personal).
• Experience with major cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
• Experience with or understanding of financial markets.
• Prior startup experience.
• Experience working remotely.
