
About the Role
Canonical is hiring an Alliances Field Engineer to help our biggest partners—including Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, and Accenture—understand and embrace our open-source platform. You will act as a technical bridge, enabling enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and AI/MLOps.
Our field engineers are experts across the entire open-source stack, from kernel to cloud. You will work closely with OEMs, GSIs, ISVs, and Public Cloud partners to define joint go-to-market programs and architect robust, cost-effective solutions.
What You Will Do
- Architect Solutions: Design cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, Spark) for both On-Premises and Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Integrate Tech: Architect and integrate open-source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
- Partner Enablement: Help partners architect joint solutions using Canonical technologies and publish Reference Architectures.
- Technical Leadership: Run onboarding sessions and workshops to promote Canonical products and solutions.
- Deep Dive: Provide thoughtful, well-informed answers to complex technical inquiries from partners.
What We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation.
- Proven experience designing and implementing solutions on public or private clouds.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash, with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with fluent written and spoken English.
- High motivation, multi-tasking ability, and a commitment to reliability.
- Interest in customer-facing engagement and emerging technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps.
- Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical experience.
