Engineering Manager - Python and K8s

About the Role

Canonical is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a regional team focused on productizing business workloads for real-time automated operations on Kubernetes. You will transform internal information systems into an extension of our product engineering capability, ensuring our internal workloads mirror the open-source solutions we provide to our customers.

What You’ll Do

• Team Leadership: Build, manage, and mentor a regional team of engineers through coaching and regular feedback.
• Technical Strategy: Contribute directly to engineering goals while ensuring sound software architecture, testing, and documentation standards.
• Operational Excellence: Advance modern, agile development practices and maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
• Stakeholder Management: Set reasonable schedules based on estimates and manage expectations with cross-functional teams.
• Collaboration: Act as an active member of the leadership team to align on strategy and execution.
• Travel: Participate in in-person team sprints globally up to 20% of the time.

Who You Are

• Technical Background: Proven experience in software engineering with a strong focus on Python and the development of stable, consumable APIs.
• Infrastructure Expertise: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes operations.
• Leadership: A track record of developing and growing people in a collaborative environment.
• Agile Mindset: Experience working in agile environments and a passion for pushing the boundaries of infrastructure technology.
