About the Role

Canonical is seeking an astute and forward-thinking Internal Auditor to report directly to the CFO. This is a unique opportunity to build our internal audit function from the ground up at a profitable, fast-growing technology company. You will design and own internal audit processes, ensuring scalability and efficiency in a complex, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Development: Establish and maintain internal audit infrastructure, including templates, risk registers, and reporting cadences.
  • Audit Execution: Conduct the end-to-end internal audit cycle, including planning, walkthroughs, control testing, and precise documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate global policies to identify gaps and partner with stakeholders to implement scalable improvements.
  • Risk Management: Partner with operational stakeholders to identify elevated risks and drive corrective actions.
  • Reporting: Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership and report status to the Audit Committee.
  • Collaboration: Work with stakeholders on new initiatives to ensure appropriate risk mitigation.

What We Are Looking For

  • Academic Excellence: Exceptional track record from high school and university; undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, technology, or a quantitative field.
  • Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Prior experience in an internal audit function and demonstrable exposure to a multilayered global operational environment.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and the confidence to hold colleagues accountable.
  • Communication: Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • Travel: Ability to travel internationally 2-4 times a year for company events (up to two weeks long).
