
About the Role
As a Developer Relations Engineer at Canonical, you will act as a technical expert, strategist, and communicator. You will bridge the gap between our engineering teams and the global open-source community, ensuring our products meet the needs of developers while fostering innovation.
What You Will Do
- Community Engagement: Maintain active conversations across IRC, social media, forums, and meet-ups.
- Technical Advocacy: Create technical articles, presentations, and workshops to showcase our vision.
- Product Feedback: Participate in strategy and development meetings to provide insights from the developer community.
- Problem Solving: Assist users and internal teams in resolving technical challenges.
- Documentation: Contribute to technical documentation to ensure high-quality developer experiences.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to establish consistent approaches across the company.
- Events: Present at conferences and represent Canonical at technical events.
What We Are Looking For
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience as a developer with a deep passion for open-source software.
- Linux Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Linux software packaging (Snaps, debs, charms, rocks, PIP, containers).
- Communication: Engaging, vivacious speaker capable of building trust and navigating complex organizational boundaries.
- Community Experience: Demonstrable history of contributing to open-source communities, software, or documentation.
- Travel: Willingness to travel globally twice a year for company sprints and partner events.
