
About the Role
Canonical is expanding its Embedded Devices Software Solution Sales team. We are seeking a high-energy Sales Director to drive growth for our Ubuntu product portfolio, specifically targeting mission-critical industries including industrial electronics, automotive, and robotics.
This is a strategic, quota-carrying role focused on prospecting, account development, and positioning complex technical solutions like Ubuntu Core for IoT, real-time Linux, and cloud/container technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy: Build and execute a territory sales plan prioritizing security-focused brands and manufacturers.
- Pipeline Development: Generate leads through outreach, prospecting, local marketing, and industry events.
- Sales Execution: Manage the full sales cycle, from initial contact to closing contracts, meeting or exceeding annual bookings targets.
- Relationship Management: Establish productive relationships with key influencers and decision-makers at senior levels.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Field Engineers to define customer requirements and coordinate with internal support and delivery teams.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate data and forecasts within Salesforce.
What We Are Looking For
- Education: Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject.
- Experience: Proven field sales experience in embedded Linux, embedded software, or enterprise software with a track record of large account wins.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with embedded Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred) and RTOS.
- Communication: Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Soft Skills: Curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and the confidence to exchange feedback and share ideas.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 50% for customer meetings and industry events, plus international travel twice a year for company events.
