The Role
We are hiring a Golang Software Engineer at any seniority level to join our Commercial Systems unit. You will work within one of our six specialized engineering teams to build and operate services that are critical to Canonical's business operations.
Engineering Teams
- Billing: Develops services to turn metrics into billable amounts and integrates with payment systems.
- Contracts: Builds the single source of truth for customer contracts, including CPQ capabilities and CRM/accounting integrations.
- Livepatch: Develops Golang-based client and backend components for the delivery of critical Linux kernel security patches.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
- Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation.
- Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
- Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback to colleagues.
- Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record (high school and university).
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative of an alternative path.
- Proven track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.
- Professional experience with software development in Golang.
- Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.
- Result-oriented mindset with a drive to meet commitments.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks).
