Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems

About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Project Manager for our Devices business to oversee the delivery of Ubuntu images across a diverse range of hardware, including robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. You will act as the primary delivery liaison between our engineering teams and global customers, ensuring complex projects are delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete project life cycle, ensuring goals are met within time, resource, and scope constraints.
• Coordinate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.
• Draft and maintain project schedules, statements of work, and risk mitigation plans.
• Maintain daily and weekly communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Drive technical issues to resolution and advocate for Canonical’s product portfolio.
• Identify custom engineering requests outside of existing contracts.
• Support different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required.

What We Are Looking For

• Solid project management experience in delivering engineering services and managing software development teams.
• Extensive experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent project resources (Asia, Europe, Americas).
• Educational background in STEM fields.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, Open Source Software, and computer architecture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to build partnerships in complex organizational environments.
• PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
