Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems

About the Role

As a Project Manager for Canonical’s Devices business, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of complex, customer-facing projects. You will act as the primary liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and our customers, overseeing the delivery of Ubuntu images across a wide range of devices, including robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects through their complete life cycle, ensuring goals are met within time, resource, and scope expectations.
  • Deliver engineering professional services and assist in the development of statements of work.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and image delivery.
  • Draft and maintain project schedules, plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain daily and weekly communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Advocate for Canonical’s product portfolio and identify custom engineering requests.
  • Support different time zones and work non-traditional hours as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • Solid project management experience delivering engineering services and managing software development teams.
  • Extensive experience managing cross-cultural and multi-continent project resources (Asia, Europe, Americas).
  • Educational degree in STEM fields.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, the Open Source Software community, and computer architecture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to build partnerships with demanding project sponsors.
  • PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
