Senior Juju Software Engineer (Go) - Canonical

About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Juju team. You will drive process improvement, mentor junior colleagues, and own functional areas from design and implementation through to support and maintenance. Juju is the engine behind model-driven operations, enabling complex software management across public clouds, private clouds, Kubernetes, and bare-metal.

What You Will Do

• Own the design, delivery, and support of features in a highly concurrent, distributed system.
• Collaborate proactively within a globally distributed team.
• Debug complex issues and engage with upstream open-source communities.
• Coach and develop team members to maintain high engineering standards.
• Participate in global team sprints (2–4 weeks per year).

Requirements

• Proven track record of professional software delivery using Go.
• Hands-on experience developing highly concurrent distributed systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Exceptional academic track record.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in C, C++, or Rust.
• Solid networking background.
• Experience with Linux, open-source projects, and configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Knowledge of cloud computing, SQL/NoSQL databases, and packaging (Debian, snaps).
• Prior experience developing Terraform plugins.
