About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our global team. You will focus on next-gen operations at scale, utilizing pure Python infrastructure-as-code to manage environments ranging from bare metal to containers and applications. Our mission is to perfect enterprise infrastructure DevOps through a universal operator pattern and model-driven operations.

What You Will Do

  • Architect and operate OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software-defined storage.
  • Apply Python software engineering rigor to operations and DevSecOps.
  • Manage mission-critical services for global enterprise customers.
  • Drive upgrades and infrastructure evolution to ensure customers utilize the latest open-source solutions.
  • Participate in twice-yearly in-person team sprints in international locations.

Requirements

  • Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Strong Python software development expertise.
  • Operational experience with Linux, including networking and storage.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with mission-critical services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, and accountability.
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment/operations.
  • Familiarity with public or private cloud management.
