
About the Role
Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Multipass team. Multipass is a workstation mini-cloud that provides Ubuntu and appliance VMs on demand for build, test, and prototyping. As a member of our distributed team, you will play a leadership role in designing, mentoring, reviewing, and coding.
What You Will Focus On
- Ensure Multipass is intuitive and easy to use.
- Architect new features and design user experiences.
- Write high-quality code and perform code/architecture reviews.
- Debug, track, and resolve user-reported issues.
- Collaborate proactively within a distributed team.
- Foster the open source community and support customers.
- Travel internationally for company events up to two weeks, twice a year.
Requirements
- Expertise in modern C++ (C++14 minimum).
- Cross-platform development experience on macOS and/or Windows.
- Experience with software testing and test-driven development.
- Knowledge of hypervisor technologies (Hyper-V, VirtualBox, KVM, QEMU).
- Open source experience and involvement.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- Knowledge of CI systems is a plus.
