
About the Role
Canonical is looking for a Web Developer to join our multi-disciplinary web team. You will work alongside visual designers, UX designers, and developers to build and maintain high-fidelity websites and web applications that support our mission of making open-source software accessible to everyone.
Responsibilities
- Create high-fidelity websites and web apps using HTML, SCSS, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
- Maintain existing projects, update content, and implement new pages.
- Manage incoming update requests and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure output consistency across our product portfolio and compliance with our web style guide.
- Contribute to our living style guide, the Vanilla Framework.
- Work closely with UX and visual designers to implement exemplary user experiences.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience working on modern web applications.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript.
- Experience with JavaScript component libraries and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in building responsive user interfaces for various devices and browsers.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong understanding of web performance and accessibility best practices.
- Awareness of SEO best practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with UX, designers, and server-side developers.
- Based in EMEA timezones.
- University degree or equivalent education.
Useful Experience
- Familiarity with Linux desktop technologies.
- Knowledge of server-side languages (Python or NodeJS).
- Experience with large-scale React/TypeScript projects.
- History of open-source contributions.
