About the Role

As a Network Deployment Engineer at Cloudflare, you will be at the forefront of building and expanding our global network infrastructure. You will collaborate with SRE, Network Engineering, and external partners to maintain our global footprint and execute aggressive expansion plans.

This is a highly visible role requiring deep technical expertise in datacenter infrastructure, physical networking, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Expansion: Manage remote contractors for datacenter installations, upgrades, and global cross-connect coordination.
  • Process Improvement: Define and implement consistent processes for infrastructure management and visibility measurements.
  • Automation: Introduce cutting-edge technology and automation to improve deployment efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (Infrastructure, SRE, Network Engineering) and external vendors (ISPs, hardware providers).
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation for rack elevations, cabling, and operational procedures.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in datacenter operations or Linux systems administration.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems administration.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Saltstack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible).
  • Ability to write scripts for internal tooling (Bash, Python, or Go-lang).
  • Familiarity with network hardware administration and data center operational tasks.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing remote contractors and cross-functional projects.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and troubleshooting network/hardware/software issues.
  • Familiarity with load balancing and reverse proxies (Nginx, Varnish, HAProxy).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage tasks via tools like JIRA and Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or MIS is a plus.
