Senior Software Engineer - Network Connectivity (Go/Rust)

About the Role

The Egress team at Cloudflare owns a critical aspect of our network-as-a-service: Egress connectivity for our vast portfolio of products. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the cutting-edge network software infrastructure that powers products like WARP, our Zero Trust platform, and the egress proxy for iCloud Private Relay.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Network Engineering, and SRE teams to translate requirements into new platform capabilities, ensuring optimal use of Cloudflare’s global edge network. You will own the full software development lifecycle, from design and documentation to coding, testing, and managing production deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and implement complex network systems.
• Write and maintain high-quality code (Go/Rust) and automated tests.
• Manage production releases and coordinate system actions with cross-functional teams.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure system uptime and health.
• Investigate and resolve escalated customer issues.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, introspect production systems, and accelerate problem-solving.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Professional experience in Go or Rust.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols (Layers 3 and 4 of the OSI Model).
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience building secure, highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging skills for complex, large-scale systems.
• Willingness to integrate AI-assisted development tools into your daily workflow.

Bonus Points

• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Professional systems-level programming experience in Rust.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging distributed systems.
• Prior experience participating in an on-call rotation.
