Staff/Principal Software Engineer - Security Platform

About the Role

The Security Platform team is an infrastructure and developer tools group tasked with building and operating powerful, resilient, and secure systems that enable other engineering teams to deliver products efficiently. We are responsible for secrets management, internal certificate authorities/PKI, and machine/workload identity.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate secure, resilient distributed systems for secrets and key management across a network spanning 310+ cities.
  • Focus on strengthening and re-architecting internal PKI and machine/workload identity.
  • Run and support the systems you build, both operationally and by assisting internal developers.
  • Consult on the design and architecture of new systems to ensure they are built securely.
  • Flexibility to be on-call outside of standard working hours to address technical issues.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Expertise in software development and distributed systems design.
  • Strong security background with a focus on implementation rather than policy or compliance.

Bonus Points

  • Track record of contributing to open source security or distributed systems projects.
  • Cryptography background and ability to work with cryptosystems at the primitives level.
  • Experience with HSMs, TPMs, or platform TEEs (e.g., AMD SEV, Intel SGX, Apple Secure Enclave).
  • Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault, OpenBao, or similar tools.
  • Linux/UNIX system administration proficiency.
  • Familiarity with Go, Python, or Salt.
