Accountant II - Elastic

About the Role

Elastic is seeking a General Ledger Accountant based in India to support our US-based accounting team. You will perform day-to-day ledger entries, focusing on cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and payroll transactions. This role requires the ability to take ownership of your work and act with autonomy in a fast-growing, distributed environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ledger Management: Process daily bank information, prepare journal entries for NetSuite, and oversee prepaid and fixed asset amortization schedules.
• Payroll & Reconciliation: Assist with global payroll transactions and maintain complex balance sheet accounts by reconciling sub-ledgers and explaining variances.
• Month-End Close: Prepare adjusting journal entries and communicate across departments to resolve outstanding reconciliation items.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure accurate reporting through internal controls; provide documentation for annual audits, quarterly reviews, and SOX control requests.
• Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Treasury, AR, AP, Consolidations, FP&A, Tax, and Internal Audit.

What You Bring

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (or local equivalent) in Accounting.
• Experience: 5-8 years of experience in a publicly traded company, ideally within hyper-growth tech.
• Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs), experience with NetSuite, and familiarity with US bank portals (e.g., Citibank).
• Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and internal controls.
• Preferred: Experience with foreign currency and multiple international subsidiaries (EMEA, APAC, North America) and Workday.
• Soft Skills: Robust analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work across various time zones.
