
About the Role
Elastic is seeking a Tech Lead for the Agent Framework team. In this role, you will own the architecture, set the technical direction, and serve as the primary decision-maker for how Elastic's agent layer evolves to support the Streams model—the unified platform for data collection from edge to cloud.
What You Will Be Doing
- Architectural Leadership: Design a scalable agent layer, evaluate new technologies, and lead architectural discussions to drive system performance.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with product management to prioritize features and engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment.
- Project Management: Facilitate cross-team collaboration, identify risks, and adjust project plans to meet evolving business priorities.
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on agent, daemon, or systems-level software at scale.
- Deep expertise in observability data collection (metrics, logs, traces) and protocols (OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, syslog).
- Solid background in Go.
- Experience designing management and control planes for distributed software (e.g., OpAMP).
- A track record of leading large, multi-team initiatives from design to production.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a history of producing high-quality design docs and ADRs.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Elastic Agent, Fleet, Beats, or OpenTelemetry collector internals.
- Knowledge of pipeline execution models (Streamlang, Logstash, Fluent, etc.).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) in agent deployment contexts.
- Contributions to open-source observability projects.
- Experience working async-first in a globally distributed team.
