An Overview of This Role
As an Associate Solutions Architect for GitLab's SMB EMEA Sales team, you'll be a trusted advisor to GitLab prospects and customers, helping them understand how GitLab's DevSecOps platform addresses both technical requirements and business objectives across the entire software development lifecycle. You'll guide organizations through their digital transformation journeys, from planning through monitoring, using your technical expertise, understanding of cloud and modern software development practices, and strong customer empathy. Reporting to a regional Solutions Architect manager and partnering closely with Account Executives, you'll own technical evaluations, shape solution architectures, and serve as the voice of the customer back to Product Management.
What You'll Do
- Drive Value and Adoption: Support and enable the successful adoption of the GitLab platform by SMB EMEA Customers. Work collaboratively with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing.
- Onboarding & Growth: Complete the Solutions Architect Onboarding plan in your first 30 days, shadow value selling approaches in month two, and begin engaging with customers as a technical consultant by month three.
- Sales Strategy: Partner with the sales team to formulate and execute sales strategies to exceed revenue targets.
- Technical Evaluations: Guide technical evaluations via POC/POV ownership, RFP/audit support, and workshop design.
- Customer Advocacy: Build relationships within customer environments to enable them to be GitLab advocates, and serve as their voice back to internal Product, Sales, and Marketing teams.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain specialty competency in technologies related to GitLab's market focus and continuously improve professional skills.
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 1-2+ years of experience engaging with customers in pre-sales, consulting, or similar roles, guiding them through solution design and evaluation.
- DevSecOps Knowledge: Eagerness or experience in understanding the end-to-end software development lifecycle, modern DevSecOps practices, and CI/CD workflows.
- Cloud Concepts: Practical knowledge of cloud computing concepts and related technologies, with the ability to discuss deployment, security, and operations.
- Technical Leadership: Ability to lead technical evaluations (POC/POV), contribute to tenders/audits, and design workshops.
- Communication: Clear technical communication and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messages for both practitioners and senior decision-makers.
- Language Skills: German OR French language fluency is highly desirable.

The Solutions Architect team is part of GitLab's Sales organization and serves as the technical counterpart to Account Executives. Our mission is to help customers realize the full value of GitLab's AI-powered DevSecOps platform by advising on architecture, running technical evaluations, and guiding customers through digital transformation.
