Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby), AI Engineering: DAP Repository Flows - GitLab

About the Role

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Duo Agent Platform (DAP) Repository Flows team. This team is responsible for DAP onboarding and the development of autonomous, scheduled agents that interact with customer codebases.

What You'll Do

• Feature Ownership: Lead the design and delivery of features end-to-end across DAP onboarding and repository/background flows.
• Agent Development: Build autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases using the Duo Agent Platform.
• Onboarding Optimization: Improve the DAP onboarding experience to reduce friction for new users.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional engineers on shared interfaces and technical patterns.
• Quality Assurance: Review designs and code to maintain high technical standards.
• Culture: Contribute to a culture of autonomy, ownership, and async-first collaboration.

What We're Looking For

• Ruby Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in production environments.
• AI/LLM Integration: Experience integrating LLMs into products (product integration focus).
• Agentic Systems: Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agents that perform actions on behalf of users.
• Independence: A proven track record of designing and shipping features independently within a collaborative team.
• Communication: Strong written communication skills and the ability to thrive in a distributed, async-first environment.
