Senior Manager, Internal Audit - Audit Automation & Technology Risk

About the Role

As Senior Manager, Internal Audit focused on Audit Automation & Technology Risk, you will anchor our Internal Audit operations in Bangalore, India. You will lead three core areas: audit automation and innovation, people and operations for our India hub, and support of our technology risk audit program. Reporting to the VP of Internal Audit, you will position the team as a strategic partner providing actionable risk insights.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Innovation: Lead the design and adoption of AI-assisted workflows, data analytics, and automation across audit planning, evidence gathering, and risk monitoring.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the Bangalore-based co-source provider and oversee day-to-day SOX testing quality and issue escalation.
  • Strategic Partnership: Build relationships with India-based engineering, information security, and IT leaders to align audit plans with business roadmaps.
  • Technology Audits: Own assigned technology audit topics from scoping through fieldwork, observation management, and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, develop, and retain India-based audit team members, fostering a culture of growth and connection to GitLab’s mission.
  • Cross-Geo Collaboration: Bridge India and US working styles and time zones, ensuring high-quality, risk-informed outcomes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in technology audit and risk management, including leading teams in a distributed environment.
  • Deep expertise in SOX internal controls, risk assessment, and testing program oversight.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (SQL, Python, or similar) to automate audit operations.
  • Curiosity about AI agents and automation tools to improve audit efficiency.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps platforms, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD risk, and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate business impact and build trusted relationships with technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, IT, Computer Science, or Finance, plus an active professional certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or CRISC).
