
About the Role
GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. As a Staff Software Engineer on the DAP (Duo Agent Platform) Repository Flows team, you will lead the technical direction for autonomous and scheduled agents that operate on customer codebases. You will be responsible for shaping the architecture of our repository flows and the onboarding experience for the Duo Agent Platform.
What You'll Do
- Technical Leadership: Set and drive the technical direction for the team, making high-level architecture decisions.
- Agentic Systems: Design and deliver autonomous/semi-autonomous agents that perform actions on customer codebases.
- Onboarding: Refine the DAP onboarding experience to minimize friction for new users.
- Collaboration: Partner across the broader DAP organization to align on interfaces and platform capabilities.
- Mentorship: Mentor senior and intermediate engineers, review designs, and elevate overall technical quality.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical challenges while fostering an async-first, high-ownership culture.
What We're Looking For
- Ruby Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails in production environments.
- AI/LLM Experience: Demonstrated experience integrating LLMs into products.
- Agentic Systems: Experience building autonomous or semi-autonomous agents.
- System Design: A track record of shipping complex, high-scale systems and driving technical direction across teams.
- Communication: Strong written communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a distributed, async-first environment.
- Staff-Level Judgment: Ability to influence, unblock others, and multiply the team's impact.
