Role Overview
As a Staff Regional Marketing Manager, you will own regional marketing for the sales team in your territory and set the standard for how the regional team plans and runs its work. You will choose, plan, and run the events and campaigns that create, expand, and accelerate pipeline in your region, moving easily between high-level strategy and creative, detailed execution.
Staff is a leadership-level individual contributor role: you lead through the work you build and ship, not through direct reports. In a modern marketing organization, that means building and running your own plans, programs, measurement, and AI-assisted automation instead of handing them off.
Your target audience includes CIOs, CTOs, VPs of engineering and platform, and security leaders. Your impact is measured in pipeline: the target is a 10X spend contribution to sales pipeline for your region, with your regional budget spent within 5% variance. This role involves travel up to 50% of the time.
What You'll Do
- Drive Regional Results: Own the pipeline and growth outcomes for your region. Go beyond events and experiences to bring partners in to drive marketing across channels in support of revenue growth.
- Campaign & Event Strategy: Set regional event and campaign strategy with full discretion over which programs best support regional sales goals. Manage events onsite, including logistics, booth staffing, and swag.
- Adapt Content & Programs: Tailor digital and content marketing programs to the specific needs of your regional sales team.
- End-to-End Project Management: Project manage every campaign from start to finish to ensure objectives are met on time and within budget, then measure and report on effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead cross-functional efforts to drive demand generation and advocate for your sales region within marketing and vice versa.
- Partner & Agency Engagement: Support Channel and Alliance Marketing activities with GitLab partners from campaign approval through execution. Collaborate with external agencies and third parties.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor regional marketing specialists and managers, helping build and improve process and sharing best practices across the team.
What You'll Bring
- Proven track record of building and executing a regional marketing strategy that delivers, accelerates, and expands enterprise sales pipeline.
- Experience supporting both direct sales and channel sales teams in enterprise solution demand creation.
- Exemplary analytical skills with a proven aptitude for using data to optimize program performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a transparent planning and operating style.
- Proven aptitude for managing budget within your territory with extreme attention to detail and deadlines.
- Strong empathy for and understanding of CIOs, CTOs, VPs of engineering, platform leaders, and security decision-makers, alongside solid understanding of the developer tools, IT operations, and IT security markets.
- Ability to use GitLab, alignment with company values, and ability to travel up to 50%.
