The Opportunity

Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with Grafana. It allows customers to leverage open-source observability software—including Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, and Pyroscope—without the overhead of managing their own stack.

The Observability department enables developers to understand application health and performance across any environment by providing tools to instrument code, ingest telemetry data into Grafana Cloud, and visualize/explore it.

What is the Ingest Team?

We build and maintain the configuration and deployment tooling that bridges the gap between wanting observability and having observability. The team owns Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub. Fleet Management serves as the central cloud control plane managing hundreds of thousands of Observability Collectors in the wild.

What You'll Be Doing

Manage and develop a remote team of backend and frontend engineers distributed between EMEA and the Americas, providing regular feedback and supporting career growth.
Collaborate closely with go-to-market teams to ensure customer success during their observability collection journey.
Work with product and engineering leadership to integrate Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Helm Chart, and Instrumentation Hub into Grafana Cloud products.
Provide guidance throughout the project lifecycle from early ideation through planning, execution, and post-launch delivery.
Foster a psychologically safe environment encouraging experimentation, rapid iteration, and continuous improvement.
Contribute across team boundaries and partner with cross-functional teams to solve customer problems.
Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, GPT) within security guidelines to support prototyping, refactoring, documentation, and workflow efficiency.

What Makes You a Great Fit

Experience in Observability (especially OpenTelemetry) or building central control planes that manage fleets of collectors.
Comfortable leading engineering teams that operate with high autonomy in product and technical decision-making.
Strong people management and relationship-building skills while staying up-to-date with technical trends and architecture.
Adept at collaborating across time zones and cultures in a fully remote environment using clear, empathetic communication.
Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and elevate team performance.
Deep customer focus, grounding technical decisions in user needs and real-world impact.
Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and observability.
Comfort and curiosity around AI-assisted tooling and incorporating AI into team engineering workflows.

Compensation & Rewards

In Germany, the base compensation range for this role is EUR 109,000 - EUR 137,000. Actual compensation varies based on level, experience, and skillset. All roles at Grafana Labs include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
