Role Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager for Grafana Frontend, you’ll lead the Frontend Platform and Navigation squads, owning their performance, delivery, and customer outcomes. Frontend Platform enables teams to build reliable, high-quality experiences, while Navigation helps users find and organize resources and move confidently through Grafana.

You’ll develop senior engineers, partner with Product and Design, and improve how teams work, including through AI and automation.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Be accountable for the performance of two distributed engineering squads: set clear expectations, delegate effectively, coach and develop team members, and address performance gaps.
• Own hiring and team planning across both squads, aligning team capacity and skills with product priorities.
• Engage directly with customers, community members, and internal users to shape roadmaps and priorities.
• Partner with Product, Design, and engineering leaders to set priorities, resolve dependencies, and make trade-offs between customer needs, long-term investments, and operational demands.
• Own delivery across both squads from discovery through rollout and measurement.
• Use AI regularly in your management work to synthesize research and feedback, inform decisions, and streamline coordination.
• Lead the adoption of AI and automation across engineering and operational workflows.
• Set engineering direction with senior engineers for frontend foundations, including developer experience, accessibility, architecture, tooling, reliability, and multitenant capabilities.
• Set engineering direction for navigation, search, and resource organization.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for quality, security, and operability.
• Participate in the engineering management on-call rota, coordinate responses, and drive incident follow-ups.

• Experience with React, TypeScript, or comparable large-scale frontend ecosystems.
• Experience leading a developer platform team, including support for plugins or extensions.
• Experience with navigation, search, information architecture, or resource-management products.
• Experience delivering multitenant SaaS or major platform migrations.
• Experience working on a widely adopted open-source product.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: €133,600 - €160,320 EUR per year (Ireland).
• Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) included with all roles.
