Staff Backend Engineer - Alerting

About the Role

Grafana Labs is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Alerting squad. This team is at the core of the Grafana open-source project, responsible for building the most in-depth tools for users to manage alerts. You will work on high-scale distributed systems that power both on-prem and Grafana Cloud deployments.

• Influence & Strategy: Take an active role in shaping the product roadmap and defining your own career objectives.
• Full Lifecycle Ownership: Drive projects from initial ideation through design, implementation, and operations.
• System Design: Build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring high reliability, performance, and availability.
• Collaboration: Work within a remote-first team, participate in on-call rotations, and mentor other engineers.
• Open Source Contribution: Embrace our open-source culture by contributing to projects beyond your immediate team's scope.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Action-Oriented: A motivated self-starter with a bias toward action and a customer-focused mindset.
• Technical Expertise: Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go is preferred; Python, Java, C++, or Rust are highly transferable).
• Distributed Systems: Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or deep systems engineering background.
