Greenhouse is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team!

This role sits on our Datastores team, within the Platform domain. The team owns all production datastore infrastructure across every product. As the pace of new software development accelerates, you'll help scale the platform to keep up, while building the self-service tooling that lets product teams manage their own datastores end to end. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll extend our self-service datastore platform, build observability and disaster recovery as defaults rather than afterthoughts, and turn recurring support requests into reusable platform features or AI tooling.

Who Will Love This Job

  • A platform builder – You'd rather build self-service tooling than be the bottleneck other teams wait on.
  • An automator – Manual toil bugs you, and you default to scripting, codifying, or templating it away.
  • A database generalist – You’ve worked with and are excited to grow your experience in RDS, Redis, OpenSearch, or a Kubernetes-hosted datastore.
  • A reliability owner – You think in defaults with observability, alerting, and backup/DR built into every datastore from day one.
  • An AI-fluent engineer – You already use tools like Claude to move faster, and you're excited to build that fluency into the platform itself.

What You’ll Do

  • Extend the self-service datastore platform provisioning automation, guardrails, and paved paths for product engineering teams.
  • Ship observability, alerting, and backup/disaster recovery as built-in defaults with every datastore, without manual intervention from the team.
  • Convert recurring pull-in work (reliability issues, scaling questions, schema-change safety) into platform features or AI tooling that other teams can use directly.
  • Codify compliance, capacity management, and cost management into the platform itself.
  • Support the operational needs of the growing database fleet alongside product engineering teams across all domains.
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or in a similar infrastructure-focused role.
  • A proven track record directly managing, or building common tooling to support, production infrastructure in both AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building and delivering working software to production, whether tooling, platform, or product-facing services.
  • Strong fluency with AI coding tools like Claude.
  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada as of the start date.

Who We Are

At Greenhouse, we live by our mission through using our own product to help us hire the right person for the job, every time. We’re committed to designing and responsibly using AI tools to transform how we work while keeping people at the center. We are a remote-first company with shared office spaces in New York City and Ireland, and optional co-working spaces that give us flexibility to do our best work anywhere.
