KMA products are global leaders in utilities, lifestyle, and health & fitness niches — including AI Remodel, Printer, Botan, Calorie Counter, and more. These products hold top-1 positions in the App Store and address the needs of communities comprising hundreds of millions of people.

Our pace is our competitive advantage. KMA grows at least 3x year-over-year — and we are looking for a Head of AI who will help us scale even faster.

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of AI who will lay the technical foundation for KMA: build the AI OS, the company's internal AI operating system, and transform AI from disparate tools into a managed, measurable, and secure platform for product teams and service departments (Ops/HR/Finance).

We already have our own MCP Gateway with tiered permissions – the next step is yours. This role is for a hands-on engineering leader who has built and launched LLM systems in production (gateway/routing, RAG, agents, evals) across multiple providers, thinks in unit economics, and wants to build an AI platform for a company that grows exponentially every year.

Your Responsibilities

• AI OS — Design and build KMA's internal AI operating system: a production LLM architecture with a model gateway/router, fallbacks, caching, and cost caps; agent orchestration; skill/agent registry; develop the MCP Gateway and address its current gaps.
• Evals & Observability — Build a system for evaluating and monitoring AI solutions on production-like cases: offline and online evals, LLM-as-judge with calibration, pairwise comparisons and judge bias checks, failure taxonomies, drift detection, and quality degradation alerts; configure LLM call tracing to see tokens, latency, cache hits, and routing decisions and link them to hallucination rate, groundedness, and task success.
• AI Security & Governance — Build protection for AI systems: guardrails against prompt injection and data exfiltration, tiered permissions, auto-blocking of dangerous access combinations (lethal trifecta), PII handling, secret protection in agents, and human-in-the-loop for critical actions.
• AI-fication of Service Departments & New Development Paradigm — Transition Ops, HR, and Finance processes to AI automation and increase the share of tasks that AI can perform without developer involvement, in partnership with the VP of Engineering.
• Cost Engineering & Impact Measurement — Make decisions on model routing based on cost/quality and build-vs-buy-vs-fine-tune; build a methodology for measuring ROMI and LTV through holdout design, impact ledger, and baselines; form and develop the AI Integration team.

What We Expect From You

1. End-to-end AI Engineering

• Experience building and launching AI/LLM systems in production — from problem framing to launch and impact measurement.
• Production LLM architecture: gateway/router, fallbacks, caching, rate limiting, observability; RAG, agents, and deployment patterns.
• Experience working with multiple LLM providers and understanding trade-offs between API, managed inference, and self-hosted.

2. Evals, Data & AI Security

• Experience building offline/online evals, LLM-as-judge, error analysis, failure taxonomies, and drift detection.
• Understanding of data pipelines, PII, data quality, and lineage.
• AI security: prompt injection, jailbreaks, data exfiltration, permissions, secrets, and human-in-the-loop.
• Understanding of AI governance, EU AI Act / GDPR.

3. Cost & Business Impact

• Unit economics as part of technical thinking: token costs, cost efficiency, and automation impact.
• Build-vs-buy-vs-fine-tune and model routing based on cost/quality.
• Experience defining business metrics, baselines, and measuring impact / ROMI.

4. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Hands-on approach: readiness to independently perform technical tasks until they can be effectively delegated.
• Influence without authority and working with stakeholders who are not in direct subordination.
• Strong executive communication, business judgment, and a data-driven approach.
• Experience building a small technical team.

Important: We consider candidates with 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with AI/LLM in production and at least 1 year of experience managing a technical team.

• Internal AI / agent / developer platforms.
• Cloudflare, Vercel, Databricks, n8n, Claude Code, MCP.
• Consumer/subscription products or app holding.
• LTV, retention, ARPU, and B2C unit economics.
