About Mozilla
Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security, and more—all while staying focused on our core mission to make the internet better for everyone.
The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators worldwide, Mozillians design, build, and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.
About the Role
Mozilla’s Data Engineering team is looking for a Senior Staff Data Engineer / Data Platform Engineer to help build the present and future of our Data Platform infrastructure. This role is a hybrid Data Engineer / Data Platform Engineer, working across both teams (Data Platform Engineering and Data Engineering) in a technical leadership capacity.
Mozilla’s Data Platform serves the needs of multiple products, including Firefox, from data collection through to insights, product experiences, and machine learning applications. Our goal is to build a robust, efficient, and effective platform that makes it increasingly easy to inform Mozilla’s business and product decisions.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and improve systems to reliably and efficiently process data at the scale of tens of terabytes per day, solving meaningful business problems.

- Craft and improve workflows in GCP using modern components such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Airflow.
- Drive cross-functional projects with stakeholders across Mozilla, including Data Science, Product, Legal, Policy, and Engineering.
- Mentor teammates and foster engineering excellence across the Data Organization.
- Collaborate with Data Science to design and implement robust data abstractions.
- Address the evolving needs of active data products.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of combined experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Data Science, or Data Analyst roles.
- Deep expertise in Data Engineering and Data Platform Engineering.
- Experience with data tooling in GCP, AWS, or Azure, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Dataflow (Apache Beam), or similar technologies.
- Experience with Looker, Fivetran, Kubernetes / GKE, Airflow / Cloud Composer, and Terraform, or similar technologies.
- Advanced coding skills in SQL and Python.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: modularity, abstraction, data structures, and algorithms.
- Demonstrated experience as a tech lead, team lead, hands-on Data Engineering/Platform manager, or similar leadership role.
