Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more.
The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.
About this Team and Role
The Monetization Data Science team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and senior leadership to understand and grow Mozilla’s advertising business while protecting the user privacy experience that makes Firefox unique.
Mozilla’s Ads business is growing quickly, with new products, markets, and sales offerings creating significant opportunities for Data Science to shape how the business evolves. We’re looking for a Staff Data Scientist who can serve as a trusted data partner to the Ads organization—identifying the questions that matter, building the measurement and analytical approaches needed to answer them, and helping teams make sound decisions in a fast-moving and ambiguous environment.
This is a highly visible role that requires strong technical and business judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to move comfortably between deep analytical work and executive-level decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a lead Data Science partner for Mozilla’s Ads business, working across Product, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and senior leadership to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities
- Own complex analytical problems end-to-end, from framing the business question and determining the right approach to validating results, communicating recommendations, and driving follow-through
- Develop measurement frameworks for new and evolving advertising products, including success metrics, experimentation, instrumentation, and reporting
- Analyze advertising revenue and performance to identify key drivers, evaluate opportunities and trade-offs, and inform product and business decisions
- Translate complex findings, assumptions, and uncertainty into clear recommendations for audiences ranging from technical partners to senior executives
What You'll Bring
- 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied quantitative roles, with demonstrated ownership of complex, business-critical analytical work
- Experience with digital advertising or a related monetization business, with an understanding of how product, user, advertiser, and revenue outcomes interact
- Strong technical foundation in Python and SQL, with experience applying statistical, experimental, forecasting, and analytical methods to real-world business problems
- Demonstrated ability to independently frame ambiguous problems, identify what matters, and drive work from an open-ended question through a clear recommendation
- Excellent analytical judgment—balancing rigor with pragmatism, pressure-testing important results, setting realistic expectations, and communicating uncertainty appropriately
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex or challenging findings to audiences ranging from technical partners to senior executives
- Commitment to our values: Welcoming differences, being relationship-minded, practicing responsible participation, and having grit

- Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
