Data Scientist, Growth - Notion

About The Role

As a Data Scientist on the Growth team, you will apply statistical inference and experimentation to drive product strategy and decision-making. You will work closely with product, engineering, and marketing leaders to identify opportunities, define north star metrics, and build the foundational datasets necessary to scale Notion.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Strategy: Explore ambiguous areas to identify growth opportunities and shape the product roadmap.
• Experimentation: Apply statistical inference to measure the impact of product changes and provide actionable recommendations.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing leaders to drive data-informed decision-making.
• Data Foundation: Define operational metrics and build the datasets and dashboards required to monitor progress.
• Influence: Communicate findings effectively to drive meaningful change across the business.

Skills You'll Need

• Analytical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python or R).
• Statistical Rigor: Experience using experimentation and statistical inference to drive business results.
• Technical Autonomy: Ability to transform raw data and build custom datasets when necessary.
• Efficiency: A bias for using the right tools and making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and accuracy.
• Ambiguity: Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Nice to Haves

• Experience at a fast-growing start-up or B2B SaaS company.
• Proven track record as a thought partner to product and engineering leadership.
• Experience building and evaluating predictive models.
