Practice Lead: AWS - Percona

About the Role

The Practice Lead for AWS is a hands-on leader dedicated to helping customers get the most out of open-source databases running on AWS and the broader AWS ecosystem around them (EKS, Aurora, RDS, ElastiCache, MSK, etc.). While the primary focus is on database environments, the Lead provides architectural guidance across surrounding infrastructure whenever it affects database performance, cost, or reliability.

As a recognized thought leader, you will stay at the forefront of how the AWS platform evolves, offering strategic advice and direct assistance with complex implementations and migrations. This is a dedicated, AWS-specific role focusing on deep expertise within the AWS ecosystem.

We default to AWS solutions wherever they are the natural, appropriate fit for the customer, and remain genuinely enthusiastic about it. However, if a fully managed AWS service isn't the right call for a given customer's cost, portability, or technical requirements, you will provide a straight, technically grounded recommendation for self-managed or Percona-supported open-source solutions instead.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Advocacy: Act in the best interest of the customer, championing Percona's expertise, software, and services where appropriate.
• Existing Customer Growth: Support existing customers running in AWS environments to drive performance tuning, cost optimization, and adoption of additional services, while ensuring seamless migrations for customers moving to AWS.
• Product & Partnership Influence: Act as a strategic advisor to internal teams and work closely with the Cloud Partnership team on formal relationships with AWS.
• Business Growth: Drive revenue, profitability, subscription contributions, partnership revenue, and overall customer satisfaction for the AWS Practice.
• Thought Leadership: Drive Percona's presence in the AWS and open-source database space through content creation, networking, and speaking engagements.
• Service Design: Architect professional service offerings such as migration assessments, cost optimization reviews, and architecture audits.
• Sales & Marketing Enablement: Serve as a "Super Expert" Solutions Architect during pre-sales cycles and partner with Marketing on technical campaigns.
• Practice Building: Hire and mentor a dedicated team to scale the AWS Practice as the business grows.
