Head of Product - Socket

About Us

Socket helps devs and security teams ship faster by cutting out security busywork. Thousands of orgs use Socket to safely find, audit, and manage open source code. Our customers—from Anthropic to xAI, and Figma to Vercel—rely on Socket to protect their software supply chains.

Founded by Feross Aboukhadijeh, a long-time open source maintainer with software downloaded over a billion times a month, Socket has raised over $125M in funding from top angels, operators, and security leaders.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Head of Product to define where Socket goes next and build the product function to support our next stage of growth. We’ve built a platform with strong product-market pull, a rapidly growing customer base, and a lot of room to grow. You’ll set the product strategy, bring our growing portfolio together into a cohesive platform, and help define what software supply chain security looks like as AI changes how software gets built.

You’ll work directly with Feross and the leadership team, having real influence over what we build, where we invest, and how we grow. Partnering closely with Engineering, Sales, Customer Engineering, and Threat Intelligence, you’ll turn customer needs and market opportunities into clear product direction and products that ship. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape both the big picture and the decisions that bring it to life.

You’ll also build the product function itself: establishing how we prioritize across our portfolio, make tradeoffs, measure success, and communicate our roadmap.

What You'll Do

  • Set product strategy: Connect customer needs, market opportunities, and our technical strengths across Socket’s portfolio into a focused set of priorities.
  • Get close to customer problems: Join customer calls, learn from support and sales conversations, and understand the core problem behind feature requests.
  • Partner with Engineering: Turn complex security challenges into intuitive, technically sound products. Define clear requirements and success metrics, navigate technical trade-offs, and empower engineers.
  • Make prioritization explicit: Balance customer commitments, support escalations, reliability, and new opportunities against engineering capacity.
  • Own outcomes: Define target customer impact, validate assumptions, and measure success through adoption data and feedback.
  • Partner with Sales: Collaborate on positioning, demos, and launches that communicate what we are building, who it is for, and why it matters.
  • Build planning and communication frameworks: Keep priorities, roadmaps, and decisions clear across teams.
  • Grow the product function: Shape hiring, collaboration, and team development while staying hands-on with the work.

What You'll Bring

  • Senior product leadership experience with a proven track record of taking complex products from strategy through launch.
  • Experience building for developers, security teams, or technical users (ideally in security, infrastructure, or B2B software).
  • Technical fluency to navigate architecture and implementation trade-offs alongside engineers.
  • Strong product judgment to separate high-impact problems from competing requests and make decisions with incomplete information.
  • Deep understanding of how customer value drives B2B evaluation, adoption, and expansion.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to simplify complex topics and document decision reasoning.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach suited for building without an existing playbook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with software supply chain security, application security, vulnerability management, or developer tooling.
  • Experience establishing and growing a product function at an early-stage company while maintaining shipping velocity.

Benefits

  • Market-competitive salary bands
  • Meaningful equity program
  • Comprehensive health benefits for you and your family (99% coverage)
  • Flexible time-off, holidays, and winter shutdown to rest and recharge
  • Paid parental leave
  • Remote-first culture with quarterly team off-sites
