Federal Customer Success Manager - DevOps

Role Overview

Sonatype is seeking a Federal Customer Success Manager (CSM) to serve as a strategic post-sales advisor for our U.S. government customers. You will help federal agencies modernize software development, improve security, and accelerate mission-critical application delivery.

This is not a reactive support role; you will provide proactive, outcomes-driven guidance to drive adoption, retention, and long-term advocacy. A core expectation of this role is the integration of GenAI into your daily workflow to enhance strategic analysis and communication.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Outcomes & Value Realization

• Lead structured onboarding and adoption motions to accelerate time-to-value.
• Connect Sonatype capabilities to specific customer success criteria and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor customer health, identify risk signals, and drive proactive mitigation strategies.
• Provide expert guidance on DevOps best practices, software supply chain resilience, and OSS governance.

Scaled Engagement & Execution

• Manage a portfolio of U.S. government, State, Local, and Education customers using a scaled, signal-driven engagement model.
• Document insights and actions to ensure continuity and effective internal coordination across Sales, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Capture customer feedback to influence product improvements and resolve friction points.

GenAI Integration

• Utilize GenAI as a thought partner for success planning, messaging, and internal summaries.
• Maintain high standards of strategic rigor and data handling while using AI to reduce manual overhead.

What We Are Looking For

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. civilian.
• Experience: 4-6 years in Federal Customer Success, Technical Account Management, or Solutions Consulting supporting U.S. government customers (Civilian, DoD, or Intelligence Community).
• Technical Aptitude: Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, artifact management, and OSS security.
• Communication: Ability to influence and lead conversations across tactical, operational, and strategic levels.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with FedRAMP, air-gapped environments, and software supply chain management.
