About the Role
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work directly with large law firms and in-house legal teams to integrate Spellbook into real-world enterprise environments and workflows. You will deploy and customize AI-powered systems that integrate seamlessly with document management systems, internal tools, knowledge stores, and identity systems.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Owning enterprise deployments: Partner closely with customers to understand legal workflows and technical environments, leading end-to-end implementation and translating ambiguous requirements into production-ready systems.
- Building AI-native workflows: Design and implement workflow-heavy solutions that integrate cleanly into enterprise tools and processes, including approvals, permissions, routing, auditability, and review loops.
- Driving customer impact: Work directly with end users to iterate quickly on feedback, improve adoption, and identify repeatable patterns that help shape the future platform roadmap.

Responsibilities
- Own enterprise deployments end-to-end from technical scoping to production release.
- Build integrations and AI-native workflows connecting Spellbook with document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments) and internal APIs.
- Tailor and extend the product by tuning model inference, augmenting context, and adapting the user experience for specific customer needs.
- Drive user adoption and capture actionable product insights to feed back into core platform capabilities.
Qualifications
- 3β7 years of experience building and shipping production software systems.
- Strong backend or full-stack engineering experience.
- Experience building APIs and integrating with external systems.
- Experience working with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Exposure to LLM systems (e.g., RAG, prompting, evaluations).
- Comfortable working directly with enterprise customers.
- Strong ownership and ability to take vague problems from definition to shipped solution.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with enterprise SaaS deployments.
- Familiarity with legal technology or document-heavy workflows.
- Experience with security, compliance, and data handling practices such as SOC2.
- Experience designing and building infrastructure on AWS with CDK.
- Experience in fast-paced startup environments.
