Accounting Manager - Stedi

About Stedi

Stedi is building a new healthcare clearinghouse and RCM engine. Headless means every part of our product is accessible via API, enabling developers and AI agents to build their own interfaces on top of it. By offering modern, AI-ready APIs alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions. Stedi was ranked by Ramp as one of the fastest-growing SaaS vendors and has raised $142 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, and First Round Capital.

Role Overview

We’re hiring an Accounting Manager to own Stedi’s monthly close and day-to-day accounting operations as the business continues to scale. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will be responsible for general ledger accuracy, timely financial reporting, and the accounting processes and controls that support them.

Stedi’s accounting function is built around integrated systems, automation, and AI. You will build on that foundation by standardizing workflows, establishing clear responsibilities and review procedures, and strengthening controls as transaction volume and complexity increase.

What You'll Do

  • Own the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and general ledger integrity and accuracy.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including P2P, T&E, and payroll accounting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reporting and supporting schedules, investigate variances, and provide clear explanations of financial results.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, research accounting questions, and document conclusions. Partner with the Controller on complex transactions and translate accounting decisions into practical procedures.
  • Build and improve accounting processes and internal controls as the business scales. Turn manual and undocumented workflows into clear procedures with defined ownership and repeatable execution.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and enhance financial systems using modern tools and AI to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Support cross-functional teams with clear guidance, strong communication, and a practical approach to operational issue resolution.
  • Lead the preparation of audit workpapers and supporting schedules, coordinate auditor requests, and serve as a day-to-day point of contact for external auditors in partnership with the Controller.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at a high-growth, early-stage, or rapidly scaling organization.
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Technical accounting knowledge: Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP with the ability to independently research accounting questions, apply guidance, and document well-supported conclusions.
  • Automation mindset: Highly technical mindset with a drive to automate workflows, work directly with underlying data, and use modern tools and AI to build reliable financial systems.
  • Problem solver: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a relentless approach to reconciling discrepancies and understanding underlying data flows.
  • Thrives in ambiguity: Ability to create structure from chaos and independently design scalable processes and systems from scratch.
  • Execution focus: Ability to move fast and operate with precision in an environment where clarity, accountability, and urgency matter.
