About the Role

Traditional PR is fading — we go directly to our audience. This role brings together communications and social media into one mid-to-senior, hands-on role: owning Supabase's voice across the channels where developers pay attention and building our founders' presence in them.

"New media" means modern and direct, not traditional press. We care far more about getting our founders onto the right podcasts and YouTube channels than landing a mainstream press placement. It requires part comms expert, part social operator, with a sharp edge: someone willing to share strong opinions rather than play it safe. This role also requires the poise and technical credibility to lead comms through high-stakes moments, such as major incidents, delivering calm, credible, and technically fluent communication to reporters, investors, and customers.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Ensure Supabase is part of the current conversation, driving direct audience engagement over legacy press
• Own and execute our new media strategy:
  • Run and grow Supabase's X and LinkedIn accounts hands-on
  • Build founder and team profiles, including ghostwriting in their authentic voices
  • Explore and leverage unconventional channels and formats
  • Book co-founders on prominent shows, podcasts, and YouTube channels across the developer space
• Collaborate directly with DevRel and Product Marketing on launches and events
• Lead high-stakes communications, including incident response, funding announcements, and crisis comms with technical credibility

You Might Be a Good Fit If You

• Are an exceptional writer with a distinctive voice, equally effective posting directly or ghostwriting
• Have a proven track record of growing social accounts, ideally for technical audiences
• Think unconventionally and are willing to take bold stances while exercising strong judgment
• Have the composure and technical fluency to handle critical crisis communications and press moments
• Exhibit high agency and self-direction in fast-paced environments
