Director, Strategic Finance - 1Password

1Password has surpassed $400M in ARR and is continuing to accelerate, earning a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four years in a row. We are looking for a Director of Strategic Finance who will report directly to the VP, Strategic Finance.

In this role, you will own 1Password's consolidated financial plan, forecast, and reporting cadence, serving as the primary finance partner to the Engineering, Product & Design (EPD) and G&A organizations, and setting the company's spend strategy for cloud hosting and AI as we build toward public-company readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Consolidated Planning & Forecasting: Own the consolidated P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecast, and long-range plan. Run monthly outlooks, quarterly reforecasts, and annual budget cycles with rigorous variance analysis.
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement Corporate Finance's annual objectives and roadmap aligned with overall strategy. Analyze market trends, emerging tech, and stakeholder feedback to inform direction.
• EPD Business Partnership: Lead finance partnership to the CTO and CISO organizations across engineering, product, design, and product ops. Own the R&D plan end-to-end, including headcount.
• Department Initiatives: Lead strategic initiatives to drive forecast accuracy and reporting discipline to public-company standards, establish gross margin visibility across cloud and AI spend, and optimize R&D return.
• Planning Systems: Partner with the FinSys team to own the planning stack (Anaplan, NetSuite, Salesforce, BI tools) and underlying data definitions.
• Operations & Performance: Evaluate functional structures and processes for continuous improvement. Establish and track functional KPIs to drive business outcomes.
• Team Leadership: Build, lead, mentor, and hire a high-performing team while fostering a high-trust, ownership-driven culture.

Qualifications

• Experience: 8+ years in finance with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within high-growth SaaS or cybersecurity.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
• Core Expertise: Deep knowledge of corporate FP&A for SaaS (three-statement forecasting, unit economics, gross margin analysis, R&D planning, cloud cost structures).
• Track Record: Proven success in forecast accuracy, planning speed at scale, consolidated three-statement ownership, and gross margin optimization alongside technical organizations.
• Public Company Readiness: Direct experience with IPO processes or working inside a public/recently public company (S-1 support, guidance setting, quarterly reporting cycles).
• Technical & Analytical: High analytical capability paired with strong operational excellence in process and systems optimization.
• Leadership & Influence: Outstanding cross-functional collaboration, communication, and team-building skills with a focus on influencing with data.

• US Base Salary: $184,000 USD – $276,000 USD
