About 1Password
1Password is a rapidly growing cybersecurity company that has surpassed $400M in ARR. We are building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security. We pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today.
About the Role
The 1Password Sales Engineering team is a vital resource for our customers and Go-to-Market team. As a Sales Engineer for the SMB segment, you will be a trusted technical advisor, driving revenue growth and accelerating deal velocity through strategic technical guidance. You will partner closely with Account Executives to position 1Password's multi-product solution, including Extended Privilege Management (EPM), SaaS Manager, and Device Trust, to meet customer needs. This often involves leading and managing proof-of-concept (POC) engagements.
You will navigate high-volume, fast-paced SMB sales cycles, uncover opportunities to position the full product suite, and apply frameworks like MEDDPICC to qualify opportunities and influence decision-makers. You will also support customers with compliance needs by responding to security questionnaires, RFPs/RFIs, and vendor registration requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical advisor for SMB sales opportunities.
- Partner with Account Executives to deliver scalable, impactful technical support throughout the sales cycle.
- Confidently position and demo all three core products (EPM, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust) as an integrated solution.
- Support fast-paced, high-volume sales cycles with concise, effective technical guidance.
- Recommend and position tailored product solutions that align with SMB customer needs.
- Run technical discovery with a range of stakeholders, from IT admins to developers and DevOps engineers.
- Handle competitive situations involving PAM vendors, secrets management tools, and SaaS security platforms.
- Build confidence in SMB reps to discuss product capabilities and navigate technical conversations.
- Proactively identify potential technical risks in deals and collaborate with Product and Support teams to resolve them.
- Uncover and qualify AI-related use cases during discovery.
- Support proof-of-concept engagements, including securing credentials for AI pipelines and cloud-native workloads.
- Collaborate with Sales Enablement and Product Marketing to create and improve internal resources.
- Deliver product education to customers, focusing on accessibility for non-technical teams.
- Respond to vendor/risk assessments, RFPs/RFIs, and security questionnaires.
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in a technical customer-facing role (B2B SaaS, preferably in the SMB segment).
- Fluency in French communication.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
- Strong presentation, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to quality.
- Enthusiasm for learning, testing, and problem-solving.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote-first team.
- Openness to learning and adapting quickly to shifting priorities.
- Experience or strong familiarity with the security and identity space (credential management, privileged access, secrets management).
- Familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) is strongly preferred.
- Comfort navigating developer-centric conversations, including CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles.
- Working knowledge of identity concepts (SSO, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC).
- Awareness of the growing challenge of non-human identity (service accounts, API tokens).
- Working knowledge of modern sales qualification frameworks (e.g., MEDDPICC) is preferred.
- A growth mindset and genuine curiosity about the evolving identity and security landscape.
