Who We Are Looking For

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English speaker.
• Comfortable and highly skilled with technology.
• Available a minimum of 90 minutes a day, 3 days a week (M-F) at consistent times during the school day between 8am-4pm ET (e.g., Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 10:00-11:30).
• Access to a personal laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone (Chromebooks, iPads/tablets, and smartphones cannot be used for this role).
• Enjoys working with Kindergarten-Eighth Grade students.
• Interested in teaching lessons using Amplify Curriculum.
• Willing to accept and implement ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Interested in participating in professional development and learning opportunities to help students meet their reading goals.

What to Expect as a Tutor

Compensation

• Tutoring Session Delivery: $18 per hour
• Lesson Preparation & Professional Development: $15 per hour
• Tutors are employed and paid via a 3rd party staffing agency as a W2 contracted employee.
• Tutors are compensated for each 30-minute tutoring session, as well as 30 minutes of lesson preparation time for each session held. Paid training and ongoing professional development are also provided.

Background Checks

If selected, fingerprinting and background checks will be required. Tutors cannot work with students prior to clearance. Initial fingerprinting costs average $50-$150, and tutors are reimbursed for these costs after submitting receipts.

Equipment

Curriculum is provided. Tutors must supply their own laptop/computer (with webcam and microphone) and headphones. Chromebooks, iPads/tablets, and smartphones cannot be used for this role.

Location & Scheduling

• This is a remote, part-time position. All candidates must physically reside within the 50 states of the United States and meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements.
• Tutors must have a private, quiet location free from distractions to work from.
• Tutors can request to work between 9 to 39 hours per week (most work 9 to 15 hours per week). Tutoring sessions are conducted exclusively on weekdays.
• Tutors must be available for a 15-minute early login prior to their session start.
• Each tutoring assignment lasts approximately 15 weeks. Tutors must commit to their assigned group for the entire duration.

Lesson Planning and Delivery

Tutoring sessions are delivered using a structured, research-based curriculum. Tutors are initially hired and trained to conduct literacy-based lessons. Once success is demonstrated, tutors may have opportunities to obtain additional endorsements in math tutoring (grades 3-5), literacy tutoring (grades 6-8), administering literacy assessments, and other special projects.

Amplify provides resources like ongoing professional training, supportive coaching, and online platforms for tutors to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other.

Hiring Process

1. Apply: Submit your application online.
2. Interview: Complete a one-way video interview (approx. 15 minutes) designed to showcase your experience and educational knowledge.
3. Onboarding: Complete paperwork (including tax documents, I9 verification, and a contractor agreement) and a national background check through our 3rd party staffing agency.
4. Training: Complete state/FBI fingerprinting background checks and a paid training course (approx. 15-20 hours) to learn how to navigate Amplify platforms and materials within 2 weeks of your start date.
