Job Summary

Amplify Tutoring is seeking remote, part-time Virtual Tutors to provide small-group tutoring for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade during the 2026-2027 School Year.

Note: Virtual Tutors for this role must physically reside within Maryland and be able to travel to Annapolis to complete fingerprinting.

What to Expect as a Tutor

  • Compensation: $18 per hour for delivery of tutoring sessions and $15 per hour for lesson preparation and professional development. Tutors are employed and paid via a 3rd party staffing agency as a W2 contracted employee. Tutors are compensated for delivering each 30-minute tutoring session, as well as 30 minutes of lesson preparation time for each session held. Tutors are also compensated for initial training and ongoing professional development.
  • Background Checks: Fingerprinting and background checks are required. Initial fingerprinting costs average $50-$150, which will be reimbursed after submission of receipts.
  • Location: Remote part-time position. All candidates must physically reside within Maryland and meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements. Tutors must have a private, quiet location free from distractions with a professional background.
  • Scheduling: Tutors can request to work between 9 to 39 hours per week (most work 9 to 15 hours). Tutoring sessions are conducted exclusively on weekdays. Tutors must be available for a 15-minute early login prior to their session start. Each tutoring assignment lasts approximately 15 weeks.
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Lessons are delivered using a structured, research-based curriculum. Tutors are initially trained to conduct literacy-based lessons. Once success is demonstrated, tutors may have opportunities to obtain additional endorsements in math tutoring (grades 3-5), literacy tutoring (grades 6-8), administering literacy assessments, and other special projects.
  • Culture and Community: Amplify provides supportive coaching, ongoing professional training, and online platforms for tutors to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent English speaker.
  • Comfortable and highly skilled with technology.
  • Available a minimum of 90 minutes a day, 3 days a week (M-F) at consistent times during the school day between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM ET (e.g., Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 10:00-11:30 AM).
  • Access to a personal laptop or computer with a webcam and microphone (Chromebooks, iPads/tablets, and smartphones cannot be used for this role).
  • Enjoys working with Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students.
  • Interested in teaching lessons using the Amplify curriculum.
  • Willing to accept and implement ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Interested in participating in professional development and learning opportunities.

Hiring Process
