About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to drive cost recognition processes, systems, and reporting. As a leader in our finance function, you will ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency while setting the industry pace for reporting speed. This role is ideal for a professionally qualified accountant with a passion for systems, automation, and the technology industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Design: Collaborate with Procurement, Commercial Systems, Operations, Legal, and FP&A to design and maintain scalable cost management and allocation processes.
  • Systems Automation: Drive configuration improvements in NetSuite to automate the end-to-end cost life cycle.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Ensure compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 16/IAS 38), manage cost recognition for non-standard expenses, and act as the primary liaison for external auditors.
  • Leadership: Mentor and develop a team of cost and systems accounting professionals.
  • Strategy: Incorporate industry best practices and AI to enhance reporting speed and accuracy.

Valued Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications: CPA, ACCA, or equivalent with strong technical accounting skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Detailed understanding of IFRS 16, IFRS 18, and SaaS-related accounting rules.
  • Systems: Proficiency in ERP and operational finance systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Experience: Proven track record in managing cost accounting processes in a high-growth, multi-currency, multi-country environment.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, accountability, and professional written/spoken English.
  • Education: Exceptional academic track record; undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Bonus: Experience with public company reporting, software engineering, or an MBA.
