
About the Role
Canonical is seeking a passionate Linux Engineer/Administrator to provide world-class technical support for our Ubuntu desktop and server stack. You will own customer cases from qualification to resolution, acting as a technical expert and service-oriented professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate, research, and resolve complex customer issues within the Canonical product portfolio.
- Manage support cases according to Service Level Agreements (SLA) to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Engage directly with customers via phone, ticketing systems, and remote sessions.
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
- Contribute to and maintain the internal knowledge base.
- Understand the Ubuntu development process to accurately set customer expectations regarding fix timelines.
What We Are Looking For
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
- Exceptional academic track record (high school and university).
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative of an alternative path.
- Proven experience with Linux troubleshooting (logs, stack traces, configuration files).
- Experience with Linux integration (authentication/directory services, network file systems).
- Ability to navigate OS and application-level bugs and determine appropriate escalation paths.
- Programming fundamentals in any language.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks).
- Strong customer support background with an empathetic, professional communication style.
