Embedded Linux Field Engineer (Mandarin speaking) - Canonical

About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Embedded Linux Field Engineer to support mission-critical industries including Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. You will act as a trusted advisor and customer advocate, bridging the gap between our cutting-edge Ubuntu IoT solutions and our global enterprise partners.

What You Will Do

• Customer Engagement: Lead presales discussions, gather technical requirements, and articulate the value of Canonical’s technology.
• Solution Design: Elaborate on technical solutions tailored to prospective client needs.
• Project Delivery: Participate in the delivery of select Embedded Linux projects.
• Feedback Loop: Convey market requirements to internal stakeholders to help refine and develop generic solutions.
• Trusted Advisor: Serve as a technical authority for customers, providing thoughtful, well-informed guidance on our product portfolio.

What You Bring

• Language Skills: Fluency in Mandarin (required) and professional proficiency in English.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred) and embedded development methodologies (Yocto, Buildroot).
• Development Skills: Proficiency in at least one of: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
• System Knowledge: Experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and distribution packaging (deb, rpm).
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, a result-oriented mindset, and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Availability: Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, conferences, and company events.
